Birthday Fairy

Well it was nice to have that one week break over at Crafty Creations, time to get a few things done and get caught up or just kick back.  I was still in my room everyday working on cards but it was nice to have that small break from a deadline.  Also at the Cricut Circle blog the challenge this month was create something about a window.  I think this is a window type card

Our hostess this week is our talented Deena and she has challenged us use images from our sponsor Lily of the Valley stamps.  She has some very very pretty images and you could win a voucher to use at her digi shop if you play along and win.  So your challenge is to use fairies on your cards or whatever you decide to make.  I chose this cute little girl fairy.
I am not a fairy person but I am so happy with how this card came out.  There are a couple special things going on here on this card.  I colored her using my Copic markers, I was going to use my Prisma Pencils because I think I am a bit better at shading with them but I went ahead and used the Copics and am please with how it came out.  The only think that is a bit messed up is the sentiment, I stamped it and heat embossed it with a Gina K stamp, but a little of it smeared, I guess I had too much ink on the stamp.
One of the kind of special things is I cut the frame using the Storybook cartridge and used the negative or what was left after the center was cut out.  I then cut it again out of chipboard so that it would be sturdy to pop up.  I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist and without thinking I glued it to the chipboard, then I remembered I wanted to run it through my Cuttlebug, and I though "oh no it will be too thick" but I went ahead a tried it and with a lot of really pushing the handle it went through.  I am surprised I did not break my plates! Plus the card is 5 x 7 so I had to each end through to get the whole thing embossed.
I added some pink and green pearls around the edge of the from to dress it up.  This card had a lot of sparkle on it.  I added some stickles to her wings to give them a glittery look and small shiny sticker spots to her headband and wand.  Also a pearl for her pony tail.
You can see that a bit better in this picture.  In the left corner I wadded up some holographic type paper that I had bought at Michaels on clearance a couple years ago.  I glued some ribbon flower onto that wadded up paper.  The pink background paper is the special part, as I was cleaning my room last week I found a few sheets of paper that I had MADE a long long time ago.  My hubby had made me a wooden frame that sat over a box.  He put screen inside the frame for me to put the paper pulp on and press out the moisture into the bottom box. I can remember grabbing what ever I could to add to my paper, I love the way the screen print shows through as a texture. This is a great way to recycle things also, the pulp is made mostly from wold paper that I shredded and add to the blender along with water, can't remember what I used to color it.   I also sprayed it with Glimmer Mist for some added sparkle.  I was a little worried about spraying it with moisture that it might fall apart, but it actually held up very well.
Well I am so glad you found your way over to my blog, I would love for you to leave a comment they are very inspiring to me.
