Tags Trio Card, Bright & Pretty

This card is so much brighter and pretty in person.  I made this following a sketch and also an ad color challenge on the Cricut message board.  The ad colors were, Turquoise, Lime Green and white, not much white but there is some there.

 

I am really loving my Imagine and learning new things all the time.   I was a bit disappointed to learn that you can set up your files to cut with the Imagine application on the Gypsy, but can not flood fill imagines with colors and patterns.  In fact the regular Gypsy application and the Imagine application do NOT "talk" to each other.

So to work around that I printed up the paper patterns I wanted to use  close to the size it needed to cut my images out.  Then placed the papers on my mat and cut the shapes I wanted out of the pattern paper.  It is a shame if they have the Imagine app on the Gypsy that you can not use them together.  The papers I used for the tags are from the Blossom Imagine cartridge, then I cut out the tags using Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge.

The background paper is that paper they call Invisibles, it is all white and has a raised pattern on it so when you rub your ink or whatever you chose over it does not adhere to the raised areas, then you rub lightly with a paper towel and the pattern shows through.  I also prayed it with Hula Hoop Glimmer mist to give it a shimmery finish,

The butterfly I got some time ago at a fabric remnant store here is town.    The "thinking of you" is on there temporarily as I am not quite sure how I want to use it yet.

Birdcage Card

I had brought the Cricut cartridge Straight From the Nest a while back, it has a lot of nice features on it especially the corner feature.  I had not used it in a while but when the sketches came out at RAQ's Challenge this week on the Cricut message board, I went straight to this cartridge.  If you have a Cricut and your are looking for some inspiration or just have fun stop by and join in, there is a bunch of great ladies there.  I will tell you that I feel like my card making has improved ten fold since I started to do these challenges a year or two ago.  We love new people.

On to my card, the sketch sample had a birdcage on it and I knew I had the Mariposa DCWV stack that would go well with a birdcage cut, my problem was picking which paper from this beautiful stack.

  The card measures 4 x 8 inches, which if a fun size to work with, the only thing is I had to make an envelope to fit it.  Business size 10 envelope is a bit too long.  The birdcage is cut at about 2 3/4 inches and has 3 layers, a shadow, the cage and another layer that is part of the cage area, oh and of course the bird :).  The entire birdcage was cut from white cardstock.  The red part I colored using Distressed Ink Fired Brick and then sprayed it with Scarlet Glimmer Mist.  The shadow I sprayed with charcoal Glimmer Mist and the bird I inked it yellow, sprayed it with Glimmer Mist and then covered it with Glossy Accents.  I love Glimmer Mist, as you can tell so this has a lot of subtle shimmer.
The top layer of the cage kind of rolled slightly when I sprayed it so that is was the shape of a dome, which was kind of cool.  I cut the bar part across the opening (the bar the bird sits on) then when I glued that piece on top I glued just along the edges so it looks 3D and set the bird inside on the perch, oh yeah that is what that thing is called.  LOL

I "hung" the birdcage from a piece of gold chain like cord.  The corners were also cut from Straight From the Nest out of white and sprayed with the charcoal.  The happy birthday is actually a sticker, brackets around the sentiment were cut from Alphallious cartridge.   I struggled with what sentiment to use, I was going to make it a sympathy card to have it one hand but it just did not look right to me, so a birthday card is always safe and will always get used.

A Little Cotton Candy...................

Ok so the challenge that Amy gave us this week was to use one of the Whimsie Doodles images and 1. use some technique (stamping, sewing distressing etc) 2. embellishments (we all know that part is easy LOL) 3.  Designer or pattern papers. easy peasey right? So here is my card for this week, it measures 5 x 7 and the base is a cream color.

Isn't she just the cutest thing.  I am so please with how this came out.  The spotted paper is DCWV form the "All Dressed Up" stack.    I printed the images on Heavenly White paper that I got from Paper Temptress, it is very heavy and has an ultra smooth finish, my Copics and ProMarkers go down very smooth on it and it does not bleed through the back.  For this image I used both my Copics and my ProMarkers, I am just building my Copics and I have the full set of ProMarkers so I used the ones where I had the correct color.   In case you are wondering about the two types of markers, I love them both the biggest difference I guess I see in them in the colors, I think the Promakers are a bit brighter but you can tone them down with lighter colors.  Now I did have some trouble once with them smearing the ink from my printer on one kind of paper (can't remember which one) and when I tried my Copics on the same printed image it did not smear.  I do love the paint brush tip on the Copics, so I will continue to build my Copics and use them together.
WELL...............boy was that a side track, sorry.  Back to the card. LOL  My embellishment is the brads I used on her dress and on the sentiment area.  Technique, I distressed the edges of the border paper (darker pink) with my Tim Holtz Distress Tool I love this thing.
When I first saw this image I thought gee she is holding an awfully plain ice cream cone, what am I going to do with it.  Well my sister-in-law was here last week and I had the image on my desk and she said "How are you going to do the cotton candy?"  DUH..................it is cotton candy, then I had this brain storm, I took a cotton pad (like the kind you use to take off your make-up) and I sprayed it with Snow Angel Glimmer Mist and it added just the right color of pink and added a few sparkly spots that look like sugar, unfortunately I can not find that color anymore and I love it.  Then I cut out the cotton candy shape from another image and glued the cotton to it and wrapped it around the edges and stuck the whole thing on top of the image.  Here is a closer picture of it.

I covered the bows in her hair with Glossy Accents and also added a small pearl to her shoe as a button, you really can't see it in the picture.

Thanks - A - Latte!

Another card where the paper did a lot of the work.  I like when this happens as it helps me to get a card done a little faster.
I made this card following of the sketches this week for RAQs Challenge on the Cricut message board.

The saying I printed on my printer and then for the first time ever, I cut around it using my Cricut and the Stamping cartridge.  I was real happy that I was finally able to do this and have it come out centered,  Yippee!  I went over the letters with my ProMarkers to give it some color.   The coffee cup was also cut from Stamping, layered then covered with Diamond Glaze.  The background paper I Cuttlebugged and misted it with Glimmer Mist to give it some sparkle to match the coffee cups at the bottom that are glittery.  And I actually finished the inside, simple but it is finished.

Let it Snow..........................a little early

I know that most of you back east are very tired of the snow and I also realize it is a bit early to be doing a Christmas card however this week at RAQ's Challenge   on the Cricut message the only thing that kept coming in my head was snowflakes.

The snowflakes are from several cartridges, Holiday Cakes, Accent Essentials and Winter Lace to name a few or maybe all I don't remember, LOL.  I do love the way it turned out and thought about making it my Christmas card this year, but I am no so sure with cutting out all those snowflakes.  Well I have a few months to think about it!  There is one snowflake hidden in there that was a Martha Stewart punch.  I sprayed all the snowflakes with Glimmer Mist, some Glacier and other Dazzling Diamonds.  The happy holidays is a Gina K stamp, that I stamped on a Spellbinder Nestie cut out. Here is a close up of some of the snowflakes.

The snowflakes are pop dotted at different hieghts, then added bling to the centers and called it done.

Wedding Card with crumpled flowers

I have a couple weddings coming up and with my Mom here I need to make two for each one.  I think sometimes simple is very elegant and that is how this one came out.

The paper is all pearl white with a shimmer to it and embossed with a Quickutz folder.  The flowers were cut using my Cricut (can't remember what cartridge) then sprayed them with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist and crumpled them up.  I did not crumple them as much as usual, but each flower has 3 layers, then I glued a pearl in the center.  The two doves were stickers that I had planned to suspend the piece of ribbon between and while I was laying it out it fell in the shape of a heart, how perfect was that!  Wedding colors are silver and blue and so I went with that theme.

Valentine Card for my Hubby.............

I had fun making this card and I think it came out so pretty.  I needed to make a Valentines card anyway so with the help of a few challenges this what I came up with.  The layout is a sketch from RAQs Challenge this week on the Cricut message board.  The challenge this week at My Sheris Crafts was too bling it up!  I added the red pearls and also it is misted with Scarlet Glimmer Mist so it has a very shimmery look to it.  I can never get that to show up well in the picture.   Also over at Cricut Cardz Challenge this week the theme was to use Red, White & Black ONLY, well that is one of my favorite color combinations so I did not have to spend a lot of time picking out my papers LOL, usually a big problem for me.

The background paper is from DCWV Black Currant stack, love the papers in this stack, the black parts of the design are glossy.  The large red heart is actually a dollie that I have had around here for a long time.  If you all know me you know I love to make crumpled flowers, well I thought "why can't I make a crumpled heart" so I did.  I cut the heart 4 times in descending size using Martha Stewart Elegant Cake cartridge out of white paper, then I sprayed it heavily using Scarlet Glimmer Mist and crumpled them into a little ball and then carefully unfolded them and stacked them on top of each other and stuck a red pearl in the center.

I cut some swirls from Serenade cartridge from glossy black paper and placed them behind the heart.  The "All my love..." is a Gina K stamp that I heat embossed with red glitter embossing powder (more bling LOL) and cut out using Spellbinders Label 11, added a couple small pearls on the sides of the label.

Snowflake................lots of Bling!

This is so so sparkly and pretty in person, it has so much dimension.   I made this to enter in the Cricut Circle monthly challenge where the prize is a Work Box, what a fabulous prize if you haven't seen these check out that link, it would take me a month to put everything in all those drawers.
Well the challenge/theme this month was to celebrate the reason you love to craft by making a home decor project (you also could have made a layout) and you had to use; at least two cuts, the shadow feature, patterned paper, and embellishments...........I think I have them all covered.

I love Christmas and enjoy making things to decorate the house with so that is why I choose to make something Christmasy for the house.  Living in Arizona I felt we needed to have some "snow" for the holidays............................  The snowflake was cut from the Christmas Noel cartridge starting at about 5 1/2 inches.  I cut the blackout feature, shadow feature and the top layer.  The top or snowflake layer was cut several times in decreasing sizes to layer.  The "snow" is cut from Gypsy Wanderings and out of pearl white paper and is about 3 inches long, and I inked the edge with blue ink.  The shadow is my patterned paper cut from a silver holographic paper with a pattern on it.  It does not show up too well in the picture because it reflects the light.  The snowflake layers were all cut from white cardstock.  The white ones were glued and glittered with Martha Stewart crystal fine glitter.  The blue parts were the white paper sprayed with Glimmer Mist Frost color then glued and glittered with the same glitter. Also a few of the layers were pop dotted.  It was hard to glue onto the glitter, in fact I had to add some extra glue to the pop dots to make them hold.   A close up of the word snow shows the paper a little better.

Lots and lots of bling added to the tips of all the snowflakes.  Now to make this a home decor project it was all made onto a magnet sheet.  I cut the snowflake base from the magnet sheet with my Cricut and it cut great, however I think I built it a bit heavy so I am going to add another piece of magnet.  Here is a view from the back

Spots, Polka Dots & a Homemade Flower

If you know me you know I love to use flowers on my cards, but I especially love to make flowers or crumpled flowers as they are called.  I made this card for RAQs Challenge this week on the Cricut message board, this was a fun sketch, thanks to Sandy Palmer our hostess this week.
The spotted paper on the left side of the card is from DCWV Nana's Kids (woo they named a stack after me LOL) stack.  There are some very bright and cheery colored papers in this stack.   The very light lime green piece on the right side started as a plain white piece of card stock.  I sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Hula Hoop then embossed it with the Cuttlebug folder Spots & Dots.  I love to use Glimmer Mist on paper especially white to see what it turns out like. 
The flower I cut from Birthday Cakes cartridge starting at about 2 1/4 inches and reducing it from there in Design Studio, this particular flower has 6 layers.   I cut all the flowers out of regular text weigh white copy paper and sprayed them with Hydrangea Glimmer mist and crumpled them up stacked them together and added a glitter brad to the center.  I will do another post with more instructions on these flowers, no it won't be a video (don't even go there LOL) but will have more pictures and instructions.

The happy birthday is a stamp that I heat embossed with white embossing powder.  The colors are so pretty and the light green in very shimmery from the Glimmer mist.  Let me know what you think, I love comments and followers :)

Happy Birthday Tag Card

This card was made using one of the sketches at RAQ's Challenge this week on the Cricut message board.  It also uses the colors from the Ad Color Challenge which are; robin egg, bubblegum and off white. 
I wish that the sparkly would show up better in the picture, I sprayed all the pieces with Glimmer Mist, so the card has a glimmer to it.  The tags were cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge at 4 x 2 inches.  I torn some paper from K & Company Gypsy Baby paper pad and covered the tags with the pieces, it was like putting a puzzle together.   I Cuttlebugged the back ground paper with the new 5 x 7 Polka Dots folder,  then distress the edges of the  with Tim Holtz distress tool.  I love that they are coming out with larger folders as I like to make my cards bigger then the A2 size some times.  This card is 5 x 7.
The brads I had just picked up at Michael's last week and the colors fit perfectly into the Ad challenge.  I also FINALLY got an i-Rock by Imaginisce, I had been wanting one for a while but every time  I went to Michaels with my coupon they did not have any.   So I just had to use it and add some more bling to this card :).  Happy Birthday is from an older Stampin Up set.    What do you think, it reminded me of a baby card (the colors)and I was going to make it into one but didn't know when I would use it so it ended up as Happy Bday.
