Birthday Princess Card

One of our Granddaughters turn 17 tomorrow.  She thinks she is Papa's princess (well aren't all granddaughters princesses :) so I thought I would make her a princess card.  I made this card following the sketch this week at Mojo Monday, I love this sketch.   I sure wish the pictures would should the colors better.

The card base is a very pale pink, and the chocolate color is pearlesence like paper.  The crown is cut from Gypsy Wandering cartridge at about 2 inches and the birthday princess is from Birthday Cakes.  I cut it twice and layered them.  The top layer I covered with Diamond Glaze, the paper it self is Cored'nations glitter card stock and the glitter shows through the glaze.  I added some bling to the band on the crown and also along the top.
The bow I made using the "tye a bow on a fork method" and left it with some extra loops, also added some bling to the center of the bow.
The inside I printed the sentiment on vellum paper and then immediately sprinkled embossing powder on it when it came off the printer (seconds are crucial for this to work) and heat embossed it.  Added a couple strips down the side punched with a Martha Stewart punch.
Thanks for stopping and by and remember I love your comments or if have any questions just ask.

Snowflake................lots of Bling!

This is so so sparkly and pretty in person, it has so much dimension.   I made this to enter in the Cricut Circle monthly challenge where the prize is a Work Box, what a fabulous prize if you haven't seen these check out that link, it would take me a month to put everything in all those drawers.
Well the challenge/theme this month was to celebrate the reason you love to craft by making a home decor project (you also could have made a layout) and you had to use; at least two cuts, the shadow feature, patterned paper, and embellishments...........I think I have them all covered.
I love Christmas and enjoy making things to decorate the house with so that is why I choose to make something Christmasy for the house.  Living in Arizona I felt we needed to have some "snow" for the holidays............................  The snowflake was cut from the Christmas Noel cartridge starting at about 5 1/2 inches.  I cut the blackout feature, shadow feature and the top layer.  The top or snowflake layer was cut several times in decreasing sizes to layer.  The "snow" is cut from Gypsy Wanderings and out of pearl white paper and is about 3 inches long, and I inked the edge with blue ink.  The shadow is my patterned paper cut from a silver holographic paper with a pattern on it.  It does not show up too well in the picture because it reflects the light.  The snowflake layers were all cut from white cardstock.  The white ones were glued and glittered with Martha Stewart crystal fine glitter.  The blue parts were the white paper sprayed with Glimmer Mist Frost color then glued and glittered with the same glitter. Also a few of the layers were pop dotted.  It was hard to glue onto the glitter, in fact I had to add some extra glue to the pop dots to make them hold.   A close up of the word snow shows the paper a little better.
Lots and lots of bling added to the tips of all the snowflakes.  Now to make this a home decor project it was all made onto a magnet sheet.  I cut the snowflake base from the magnet sheet with my Cricut and it cut great, however I think I built it a bit heavy so I am going to add another piece of magnet.  Here is a view from the back

I am so excited about this and can't wait to make more, maybe even in different sizes.  My mind is running wild I could even make these into ornaments.  Thanks for stopping by and would love for you to leave a comment.

Prickly Pear Cactus Flower

My second favorite thing to do besides making cards is taking pictures, especially of flowers.  I made this card using a picture of a Prickly Pear Cactus flower.  I took this picture out the window of our truck coming into our driveway.  Our driveway is lined with prickly pears.  It is only part of the picture and it is pop dotted for dimension.  When I printed the picture it only printed a corner or it, but I liked it so I decided to use that part of the picture.  The peach and chocolate paper are shimmery paper that I got from Paper and More click there to get some.  There are very pretty and come in a couple different weights, the "Thinking of You: is cut from that same paper.  Thinking of you is from Gypsy Wanderings cut at about 2 3/4 inches with a shadow.  I really like adding a shadow to my sentiments as I think it makes them stand out.  I also added a brown pearl to the center of the flower which is the "o" in of.  And guess what I made a card without using any DCWV paper!!!

Black and Silver with Mulberry Paper

Another card from RAQ Challenge, you will find that most of my cards are from there.  I am getting to the point where it is hard to make a card without a sketch to follow.  But I truly believe that participating in this challenge my cards have improved and evolved, if you ever get stuck or need a push give it a try.  It takes me an hour to pick out my papers alone, can you imagine how long it would take me to make a card if I had to figure out the layout also, :o!

The card is 6  x  5 1/2 and I covered the base with a very pretty shimmery silver paper then scribbled or should I say doodled around the edges so that it would show after I added the black paper.  The black is Mulberry paper, I tear it buy using a paint brush with water and then just paint where I want it to tear, then you pull it apart you get that real feathery edge.   The strips of paper are from DCWV Glitter stack, except for the plain glossy silver one which I wish I would have embossed with the Cuttlebug.  The Celebrate is cut from Gypsy Wanderings and is about 3" long.  Thanks for looking and leaving a comment
