Emboss Resist Card

Hello! So glad to be back in my craftroom.  I had a
very very busy past week with family and friends.
While I really enjoyed the time I also missed being able to
get in my room and create.

I had watched this video from GinaK Stamp TV about doing
Emboss Resist with Zig Clean Color markers, sine I recently got a
set I could not wait to give this a try.

I love how this turned out.  I used several different pink, orange and yellow markers to do the background on watercolor paper.  I stamped on the background
using a Unity stamp and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.
I stamped the happy birthday to using a stamp from the April 2016 Stamp of Approval box and then die cut the "you".  I matted all the layers on black to make the colors pop and that was it.
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and have a peak.

Beachy Keen - a Clean & Simple Card

This week for the "Free for all Friday" challenge at Stamp TV the theme was Lazy Days of Summer...........a clean & simple card with a summer theme.   No markers, pencils anything to color the image is allowed.  So here is what I came up with.

A couple of years ago I bought a set of four crazy Flamingo stamps with saying, although I love them I had not used them yet.   When I had to do a summer themed card this "bathing beauty" was perfect.  I stamped in with Raspberry ink and torn the edges then mounted in onto raspberry paper.  The white background is Cored'inations pearl texture cardstock.
Here is a closer look at her so you can see all the details of her sandals  and bikini, yes she has a bikini on.  The saying off to the side saus "beachy keen", not sure if you could read that in the picture.

Thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment. I love to read them, besides that way I knew you were here to take a peak.

And don't forget to check out my Blogaversary/Birthday giveaway.  First post on my blog.

Pretty Easter Egg

I feel like I cheated a bit on this card.  When I Googled Easter eggs and this image came up sp beautifully colored I could not resist, so I printed it on photo paper.
I followed the sketch this week at Stamp TV, if you have never play along at Gina Ks be sure you check it out as you can win a set of her stamps and they are wonderful stamps.
Unfortunately on this one I did not have any of her Easter stamps to use.
I printed the egg twice and then just cut out the ribbon part and pop dotted it on top to do some paper piecing.  It is hard to tell in the picture but the corner in the upper left is a separate corner piece cut out.  The corner and the border along the bottom is cut from Straight From the Nest, this cartridge has some awesome cuts, and a corner & a border feature.  I used my Nesties for the oval & scalloped oval behind the egg.
Thanks for stopping by and a Happy Easter to you and your family.

Well wishes card.....................

.........for my grandson that just went into the Navy (yesterday).  This week on Stamp TV we had to make a card using the following sketch.
so here is the card I made following the sketch to send him (when I get his address) LOL

This sketch was a real challenge to cut the striped background paper to line up correctly.  Looking at it you would think it wasn't a big deal but cutting angles like that on a rectangle is a bit different then on a square at least for me.  What I did was score it corner to corner, then folded it and cut on the folds.  It worked for me.
The anchor is a Gina K design stamp from the Enjoy the Sunshine set, I stamped it and heat embossed it with pewter embossing powder.  The second time I stamped it I cut it out and put Tim Holtz Crackle Accents on it.  I then pop dotted it on top of the other one.

The sentiment stamp is also a Gina K design stamp from the same set.

The center label I cut from the Sentimentals cartridge, then I finished the inside with the same cut and left it blank for me to write a note in.
I am so glad you stopped by and would love to hear your comments.
Thanks!

Thanks berry much

I love the way this came out.  I made it this week for the sketch challenge at Stamp TV.
Here is the sketch we had to follow.

As you can see I twisted (literally) it up a bit, but I think you can still see the basic sketch.

This card was actually built around the ribbon.  I had this ribbon for some time now and when I saw this sketch I knew this was the ribbon I wanted to use.  The strawberries are from Gina K Designs "Enjoy the Sunshine" set that is so versatile, I love it.  The thank you berry much is also from that same set.    I stamped the strawberries using Memento black on Gina K Pure Luxury cardstock, then colored them with my Copic markers.  I only have a few Copics and I am still learning how to use them, but with this paper they blended beautifully.  It leaves such a smooth silky like finish to the image.

I embossed the background using my Cuttlebug, and I knew there was a way to leave a section not embossed.  I was determined to do it this way so I checked out You Tube and around the internet and I found a tutorial on Ikki's Cuttlebug Cupboard, what a great resource for using your Cuttlebug, be sure you stop by and check it out.
Then after I spent an hour or so yesterday trying to find this technique I get my newsletter from Splitcoast Stampers this morning and sure enough their tutorial this week was on exactly that topic!
Anyway what I did was set up a cut file in my Gypsy for a 5 x 7 rectangle with an oval approximately 1 x 2 cut out at the spot I wanted left unembossed, then I cut it out of chipboard type material.  It worked great, boy can I see a lot of possibilities for this!.
I made this inside rather simple, just using a Spellbinder die and cutting out the strawberry image, I wanted to leave room for a hand written note.

I am so glad you stopped by, I would love to hear you comments on my card.
