Feelin Crabby?

I made this card following a sketch on the Cricut MB, but I think it came out so cute.   The image is a Tiffany Doodles (tagged "cdacpc7, tiffanydoodles") image that I got for free for playing along at the CDAC Progressive Freebie challenge.   It is so much fun, if you like working with digital images be sure and check it out.

I colored the image using my Copic markers, then cut him out and covered him with Glossy Accents.  I cut 3 circle using the George cartridge out of acetate and then colored it using my alcohol inks and Cuttlebugged it using the Bubbles folder.

 I added so some cute red googly eyes.    The stripe behind him is black glossy paper.
I got to thinking and thought it would would make a great get well card to try and cheer someone up.  So here is what I put inside.....

It actually came from my head can you believe it???  Sometimes I do come up with something good  LOL.

Bold & Bright Card

Hi, hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.  I love working with these colors so when I saw the ad color challenge to use yellow, black & white together I knew I had to make a card.  It was also made following a sketch.

The circle I cut using my Cricut George cartridge, this is the cartridge that came in the very first Cricut and it seems like I go to it more often than any other cartridge.

I put a variety of different buttons in the center of the 3 circle and then tied some twine into bows.  I had ordered the twine several months ago and I sure don't use it often enough, I like the way it looks especially with buttons.  I had a tough time deciding what sentiment to put on this card and then I found the "bee happy" on Just Because cards cartridge, I wish I would have found it first because I think I would have put a bee in place of one of the buttons, I guess I could still put one off to the side?

I even completed the inside of this one very simply and left space for a hand written message.

After typing up this post I went back and I did add that little bee, what do you think?

Black & Gray Card.

Didn't want to title this as a sympathy card, but when I put these papers and colors together I thought it would do well as a sympathy card.  Besides it is nice to have these around as I find them more difficult to make when you need them.
This is one of the sketches this week at RAQs Challenge on the Cricut message board.

After giving me many fits I think it came out fine.  This was one of those cards where you have something in your mind and it is just so hard to get it on the paper how you imagine it.   I was determined to use one of the tag cuts from Picturesque that has a butterfly on it because I had paper that would work well with it.  Well after cutting out several and flood filling them with the Imagine I finally moved on to something else.  The background papers are from the same pack that I originally wanted to use..  What I had a hard time with was that I was also trying to follow a color challenge using black, gray and ivory, well I just could not get the ivory to work so I used white.  Close enough huh?   The papers are from a Best Occasions stack that I bought a WalMart a couple of years ago, the tag is from the same stack.

I knew one of the cartridges had a cut to match the "Queen Anne's Lace" (as I call it) on the paper so I could incorporate a Cricut cut into it.  This particular cut from Lyrical Letters is an extremely fine cut but I went ahead and tried it using my Imagine because it cuts so much better than my Expression, but even using the Imagine the fine lines/stems just fell apart trying to get it off the mat.  I so wanted to use this cut and then I had an Ah Ha moment and used my Quickuts pens in my Create to draw it.  I set it up in my Gypsy at the size I wanted and then put my black pen in and hit cut, after is was done drawing it I hit "return to mat" and placed a circle around it using George, then I deleted the Queens Anne's Lace and hit cut and it cut it out perfectly! Here is a link to a video on using these pens in your Cricut, just click HERE.   YEAH t worked!  I cut out a slightly larger black circle to use as a shadow.  I colored in parts of the drawing using my Stardust gel pen, the petals part but it is hard to see.

I cut the "with sympathy" from the Wild Card cartridge and added a few dots with my white gel pen.  The edge of the gray I torn using a metal ruler that I had found on clearance at my grocery store, works great when you don't want to use a straight edge.  Whew well I think it came out fine although it took many many turns along the way.

Yellow, Purple & Silver

Hi everyone, for the first time I am entering a card in the Circle Blog (exclusive to Circle members)weekly challenge.
 This week the challenge is to follow this sketch.....................

It looked like it could be a lot of fun and so very versatile. To qualify the project to enter had to be a newly created project, have glitter or bling and at least two different Cricut cuts..  For the glitter/bling part I pulled out my DCWV Lemon Flower stack.  I love the papers n this stack.  Well my card evolved a bit as it went on.  Here is what it first looked liked.

Although pretty, I felt like the circles were a bit to plain.  So I brought in some color!  Here is what I came up with.

Much better don't you think.  Although it looks like the background is matted on the darker color it is not.  The darker color is a very thin frame I cut using the George cartridge by placing one rectangle inside another.  Wanted to make sure I cut my qualifying cuts in, the circles were also cut using George.  I also used my Gypsy to set up the plaid rectangle cut so it would be the correct size I wanted.  The corner I cut with my trimmer just from a scrap of paper that I had.

The butterflies were cut from the Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art cartridge.  They were cut from plain white cardstock that I sprayed with Deep Plum Glimmer Mist spray, then added some silver bling down the center.
The "happy birthday" was a stamp that I heat embossed with silver embossing powder.
I did the inside very very simple for now and will add more when I go to use this card.

Way to Go Card..........

..............Beep Beep.  I think this card came out so cute.  I made it following a sketch on the Cricut message board, where we had to follow a sketch and use some old supplies that we had.  I think I have had the little car brads over a couple of years.

The roads are cut from the My Community cartridge and then I added a piece of yellow paper behind the black.  The Way To Go was cutting using the George cartridge which was my first cartridge when I got my first Cricut.  The blue background is a Cuttlebug folder from the Boys will be Boys package which I sanded so the white shows through.   The yellow paper was printed using my Imagine.

I am so glad that you really can't tell which is the front and which is the back of the cars, LOL that way I didn't have to worry about putting them in the right direction.

A Lovely Simple Card

I had such a hard time putting this card together but in the end I am happy with how it turned out.  I guess I had a hard time because my mojo was a bit gone and my mind kept jumping around.  Yikes!
This card was made following one of the sketches this week at Raqs Challenge on the Cricut message board.

 

I cut out several things as I was trying to make a decorative frame around the card.  So here is what I did and I wish I had taken photos as I went along (I will try and remember to do that), I love using Stretch Your Imagination for its frames.  The loopy white area is one of the frames on Stretch Your Imagination but the center of it is rectangular and I wanted it to be oval so using my Gypsy I placed an oval shape from George over the rectangle and hid some of the cuts I didn't need cut.  When I do something I usually cut it from just plain inexpensive white cardstock  to see if it is what I really want.  I have a hard time just seeing it on the screen, I need the actual piece, I know the Gypsy is suppose to help you not have to do that to save paper but I still like to see it, plus having a cut out helps me pick out my papers to use.   I liked the way this one looked and liked the size which is 5 1/2 inch square so I decided to use this and started to look for papers.  Well still I am always trying things and playing around I took the frame cutout and covered it with Versamark watermark ink and sprinkled it with white pearl embossing powder and heated it.  I like the way the color looked so I found a paper that went well with the pearl look.   So in this case my sample cut was not a waste.  Of course they never are a waste as I have a tray I throw them in and then split them up and give them to my two sister-in-laws that I got into card making.  The love getting their packets now and then. :)  The background paper I chose is from DCWV Luxury stack, as it has a pearl like shimmer to it.
For the center oval I did the same thing, cutting it out of plain white paper till I got the size and shape I wanted.  The scalloped part was cut from Ashley's Alphabet , and the back part from George.  What would I do without good old George.   The center part I did cut out on an iovry pearl paper and then stamped it with a Gina K stampe from the Hugs & Paryers set and heat embossed it with Champagne Pearl powder.  The scalloped part again I covered with Versamark and covered it with the same Champagne powder, however I did it three times on this to give it a very smooth almost look of metal.  I pop dotted the oval to give the card more depth.  Here is a closer look.

Now I wish I would have given the frame an additional coat of powder.   I also saved the negative cuts (pieces left on the mat) using tacky drywall tape.  I will use it someday on another card.  Here is a picture of it on the tacky mess, I also prayed it with Glimmer Mist to give it a golden orange color.

I made this card for a wedding shower for my "niece to be".  It was created following one of the sketches on RAQs Challenge on the Cricut message board, also I will enter it at this week challenge at Fantabulous Cricut - Challenge me Monday and also at My Sheri Crafts. Now the themes at both this week is April Showers and you are to create a card using an umbrella or hat or something do to with April Showers.  Even though this is not an April Showers as per rain but it is an umbrella for an April wedding shower. :).  I hope this is a valid entry.

The umbrella is cut from the New Arrival cartridge even though this ia a wedding shower, I liked it a bit better than the one on Sweethearts.  I place small pearls along the bottom of the umbrella, and I cut off the bow part that cuts and added my own bow.   The squares at the bottom were cut using good old George, love this cartridge for shapes and added a few stickers on top.  The oval at the top is from Lacy Labels and stamped with a Gina K Designs stamp.  I love her stamps.  I added a few hearts raining down from the umbrella.   The umbrella and white squares are cut from pearlesence white paper and embossed with my Cuttlebug using Swiss Dots folder.

 

A close up of the umbrella that shows the pearls better and also the brown pearls that added t the oval.  The wedding colors are teal and brown which are great colors to put together.

Circles of Blue

My Mom's friend's birthday is coming up and her favorite color is blue, so I made this card for my Mom to give her.  It was made following a sketch at Friday Sketchers Blog (which I think I may be too late for) and also the exact same sketch was one of the sketches for RAQs Challenge on the Cricut message board.  I will also post this card on the Paper Cutz Challenge as it is "Your Choice" week.

The papers I used all came from the DCWV Summer stack from last year.  The circles were cut from George, my go to cartridge for shapes and the flowers I sprayed with Glimmer Mist and crumbled  slightly and added a glitter brad to the centers.

Then I remembered that I had the Verve Stamp Birthday Wishes stamp that went perfectly with this card and paper.  If you are not familiar with there stamps be sure and click the above link and check them out, they are fabulous.  I stamped it and heat embossed it with a very dark blue.

Diamonds are a Man's best friend ?

This card went together very fast for me (about an hour) that in itself is amazing LOL.  Not much Cricut just the diamonds from George.

Lots of Cuttlebug, well some...........I Cuttlebugged the red & purple diamonds with Argyle folder and the background paper with a checked foldr that came in one of the sets.  The card is 5 x 6 1/2.  I thought it made a great male card.  Thanks for stopping by.

Big Girl Panties

Thanksgiving day is my daughter's birthday and she will be 39, wow she is old,  not me LOL!  Although her card has nothing to do with the Thanksgiving theme (I am sure she will glad it doesn't) it does fit into "her" theme.  I made this card following a sketch this week at RAQs Challenge on the Cricut message board, I thought the sketch fit into this perfectly or vice-versa.

The "outfit" is mounted a 5 x 7 piece of charcoal colored paper that has a slight weave like pattern on it.  The outfit opens for the card, which you will see later.
Now I bet you are wondering what does this have to do with a birthday, well once you see the inside you will understand.

I bought this stamp a while back with my daughter in mind.  It is a phrase she uses now and then plus it fits her personality.  Now isn't it cute how the cards goes with the stamp?
Using my Gypsy I set up the base for the card by using a rectangle from George and welding the panties from Paper Doll Dress Up.  Here is how it looked on my mat.

I folded it so the top matched just above where the panties are, I also cut out the same size panties from plain white(2) and red polka dot paper.  I trimmed the front above the panties to look like a waist line and glued on the black polka dot paper on the top and trimmed it the same.  After that I cut the oval using my Nesties to make the neck.   I glued the white ruffle ribbon on the bottom of the legs then glued the red polka dot pantie onto a plain white one to hide the ribbon I had wrapped around the corner.    The "buckle" is a button that I wove ribbon through then attached around the back and covered it up with the other plain white pantie.  The buttons are actually buttons that I cut the back off of and glued down the front.  Here is a picture before I mounted the card onto the charcoal paper and before I put the buttons on.

I just love how this turned out, I think it is so cute, and believe it or not it only took me about 4 hours total.  That is lighting speed for me.  LOL

Get Well Owl card - My Sheri's Crafts

 Hi, I made this card for 3 different challenges that I found I could tie into each other.  At My Sheri's Crafts you were to make a Get Well card to cheer some one up.  

The other two challenges are Jitterbuggin where you had to use an owl on your card and at least one circle and one square somewhere, then at Fantabulous Cricut you had to use some kind of bird.
This card is 5 x 7 so it is a bigger card, the circles are cut using George (of couse, my go to for shapes) then I Cuttlebugged them, the red one with Dots and the yellow one with Birds & Swirls.  I used one of my Martha Stewart punches for the red edge. 

The Owl is cut from Cindy Loo and pop dotted and added some gems with my i-Rock for his eyes.  This is the first time I used my Cindy Loo and it has some real cute images on it.  It is mounted on a piece of white vellum that I put on a brown square that I used a corner punch on.

The "get well" wish was stamped with a Sweet n Sassy stamp and heat embossed.  I stamped it on a label I cut from Storybook and then put brads on the ends.  The background paper is from DCWV Green Stack, but for some reason this card just does not "have it" to me, does it need more bling or do you have any ideas?  Let me know

Think Pink Challenge Entry

This was entered in the Cricut Circle blog the challenge is "Think Pink"  so you had to make something girly using at least 3 of the following; pink, ruffles, scallops, flourishes, glitter and jewels.  I think I got all 6 of them covered, plus you had to use at least 2 cuts with your Cricut to qualify.  I am so so excited at how this came out...............  There is so much to tell about this so let's get started!

Isn't it pretty?  And it isn't a card it is a 5 x 7 inch magnet to hang on your refrigerator or wherever to remind us of those people going through this horrible journey and with hope that research will find a cure.
I also made this so it can be displayed all year to remind us of the importance of self breast exams as referred to at Hoos' Crafty blog where she is giving away a huge pile of pink goodies.

I cut a 5 x 7 square out of magnet material, then cut another 5 x 7 piece from white pearl paper.  I then in Design Studio put another smaller square inside that one to make the frame, it was cut twice out of thin chipboard to give it some body then again out of the dark pink paper.  I Cuttlebugged the dark pink frame (can't really see it)  and sprayed it and the light pink one with Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist Marshmallow.   I had that white ruffle ribbon (clearance at Wal-Mart) so I glued it between the two pieces of chipboard.  I stamped with a light pink ink on the pearl paper with a Stampabilities scrpit background stamp.  The scallop or flourish light pink frame I cut using Sentimentals cartridge.  As many of your know I love love to make crumpled flowers, so I cut out lots of scalloped circles from Sentimentals cartridge and sprayed them with Glimmer Mist Marshmallow (I think this is my favorite color so far LOL) crumpled them up while they were wet then uncrumpled them and stacked them and added a glitter brad to hold them together.   I just cut them from plain white copy paper.  I find they work better with a thinner paper.   Here is a close up of the flowers .  You can't really see it but they sparkle.

I then cut the word "journey" with my Gypsy using Gypsy Wandering, I cut the shadow layer with the darker pink then the top layer with the lighter pink which I glittered with crystal glitter so it really sparkles also.  The butterfly I bought the other day along with the strings of pearls, then mounted the butterfly using a large glue dot over the pearls.  Added some extra pearls to the corners for more bling, them more bling the better! 

I sure hope you like this magnet with all it's sparkle and bling to remind us this Breast Awareness month October.  I think I may leave it up all year to remind me to pray for those afflicted with this disease.

Happy Birthday - My First Stitched Card

Well thanks to Okie over at Okieladybugs Scrapnmore on the message board I got me the Janome Sew Mini machine.  She let us all know that it was on sale at Hancock's Fabric over the Labor Day weekend.  Well mine came yesterday and I was so excited but it was late so I did not get to "play" until today.
I still had one sketch left to complete at RAQ's Challenge this week and it happened to be perfect for using my new sewing machine.  Last night I watched video's on Stamp TV on how to use my new machine.  If you haven't been to this blog check it out there is so much useful information and techniques there.  So after watching the videos I was already to go this morning.  I picked out my papers fairly fast (10 minutes) for me and since I already had the sketch I was ready to go.
Now I have to share a little something with you so you will understand why sewing is such a big deal to me.  Three years ago they found a tumor inside my spinal cord and I underwent surgery to have it removed (long story short) but since that time I can not drive and do not have very good control over my feet.  I don't know where they are if I am not looking at them (not a good thing while driving LOL), well using a sewing machine is much like driving.  After a trial run I did OK, but the pedal kept getting away from me under my desk so I put my Cuttlebug (there are other ways to use it ha ha) down there and put the pedal against it so it would not move on me.
After I was done I came running out of my room, well walking with my walker, to tell my husband that I would be able to drive soon as the sewing machine was therapy for me.  He looked at me and smiled and said "oh good", you see he has had to drive me everywhere, Michael's Joann's etc..
Well sorry about the big story and with out further a due here in my first sewing card.

The paper is from a K & Company specialty stack that I mounted on a 5 x 6 1/2 inch base card.  The squares I cut using George, a green one at about 2 inches and a turquoise one slightly smaller then sewed them together around the edges using a zig-zag stitch.  I also sewed the strip across the bottom using the same two colors.  The scalloped circle is cut from Stamping cartridge at about 3 inches.  I do it all in Design Studio till I get the sizes I want so I don't have exact measurements.  The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch, that I punched three times and layered.  Added some rhinestones down the center of the butterfly and then attempted to make a trail.  Here is a close up of the butterfly and my stitching.  I think I did OK for my first time.

Distressed Card

I made this tag shaped card by welding two tags from George together in Design Studio.  The scalloped circle is from Celebrations and stamped with a happy birthday circle stamp.  I CuttleBugged the chocolate Cored'nations paper with distressed stripes folder and sanded it to reveal the pink underside tore it and then torn a patterned paper and put it behind it to add to the distressed look.  The flower is from Doodlecharms cut 4 times and pot dotted.  A few skittles across the top and lacy ruffled ribbon through the hole. It is not very big and fits into an A2 size envelope.  Hope you like it, thanks any comments are appreciated.

Black White & Hot Pink

Since I haven't made a card lately, (messing with that new puter LOL) so I thought I would post one of my oldies.  I made this card a while back but I still love this color combination.  The papers are a little busy but I think it still looks good.  The black & white paper is from a paper pack I bought at Wal Mart and then just mixed it with the plain hot pink.  The happy birthday is from Zooballo cartridge and of course the circle is from George,  Thanks for stopping by to look at one of oldies.  I think I will continue to add some of my oldies as I go. 

Thinking of you Black Currant paper

Oh I just fell in love with this paper as soon as I seen it.  Actually we were in Joann's one day and my husband found this stack and said "Hey what about this one" and I said OMG yes!  He is real good at helping me find paper. :)
So I made this card using a couple of the papers in the stack.   I actually made this card to send as an entry into the 2010 World Card Making Contest.  Sure hope I win, the prize is over $600 worth of crafting products.

Using my Gypsy I made the frame for the inside of the card by placing a square from George the size of the card and then placing a rounded corner square in the center so that I would have the rounded cut out for the front of the card and not waste either piece.  I should have thought of this years ago, LOL.  The card itself is 6.5" x 5".  The "Thinking of You" is a Stampin Up stamp from the Elegant Greetings set that I bought years ago. 

Now I have seen several people us Terrifically Tacky tape to put a line of glitter on a card but always forgot to do it, but this time I tried it and it came out great and was so easy to do.  I was worried about not getting it straight but it came out pretty good, I used Martha Stewart glitter.  Also below that pink strip is 4 small circles (they are about 1/3 of inch)I cut using my Cricut and then covered them with the same glitter.  They are not very easy to see in the photo.  The little butterfly I got at the fabric remnant store for $1.99 for a pack of 12.  This card is so so pretty in person with just enough shine to it.  Thanks for looking and as always any comments are appreciated.
