Following a sketch

Hello all my blogging friends.  I have a card to share with you today that I made following a sketch.

I love this sketch, with the right papers it can really make a frame effect with a lot of depth.  I did not accomplish that like I wanted to with the papers I used. :(.

I am sure I will approach and use his sketch again, with a different set of papers.

So here is my card using this sketch.

  The papers are from the DCWV Lemon stack, I love the papers in this stack they are so glittery.  The "button" I cut about 5 times using the Artiste cartridge, then stacked and glued them together, I then I stamped the top layer with a matching stamp from CTMH.  

Here is a closer look at the button.  I covered all the layers of the button with Liquid Glass, then feed the ribbon through the holes.  The happy birthday I cut using the MS Elegant cakes cartridge.

Teal & Purple Birthday card.

Hi everyone, time to catch up on posting on my blog.  Things have been crazy around here, so the little time I had I crafted but did not get around to posting my cards.
This one I made for my Mom who is 82 today!  She lives in Colorado but come here to spend the Winter we us each year, so it hard to make a card for her as she is always coming in my room and asking what I am working on.  So I always have two things going and hide hers and pull out the other one.
She loves purple and teal so here is what I came up with.

I am rather new at using the "crinkle ribbon" so I am still playing around and learning, but all and all I like the way this came out.  It is just be learning that every thing does not have to perfect and neat, in this case messy is good, :).  The happy birthday is from the MS Elegant Birthday Cake cartridge as is the label.

I printed the sentiment on of white pearl paper and cut it using a Spellbinder die.

I finished the inside simply with the same paper theme as the front.

Baby"s First Christmas

Well I hope everyone had a very Merry Merry Christmas, boy was it ever busy around here!  There was so many special elements to this years Christmas that it just seemed like there was something going on every day & night for the last week.  I know I may have mentioned it in a previous post but here are a few things that makes this Christmas so special but yet very emotional & memorable.  First of all we have a great-granddaughter who will be celebrating her first Christmas, but to make it especially grand her Daddy who is in the Navy got to come home on leave to share in this moment.  My son-in-law came home on December 22nd and is retired from the Air Force after 24 years, my sons's 41 birthday was 12/22 and he is working in the oil fields in North Dakota but he got to come home.  So it was a huge homecoming for all, especially because in the up coming year, my son and daughter and their families will be moving to the Denver area,  my Navy grandson is going into submarines and another grandson is going in the Navy so not sure when we will have another Christmas like this one.
Sorry for the story, anyway here is the card you came to see.....................LOL

The image is from Pink Gem Designs, they have some adorable images be sure and check them out.  This one came both colored and uncolored, I tried to color using my Copics but I was having some trouble and running out of time so I went with the pre-colored one.  The colors were great anyways.  I printed it on white pearl paper and immediately sprinkled it with sparkle embossing powder when it came out of the printer than heated it.  I cut it out using the Make the Cut software, it is an amazing software that works with die cutting machines.  You can pretty much cut out anything, unfortunately I do not utilize it to it's full ability.  The tag that the image is mounted on using foam tape was cut using my Cricut out of white glitter paper, sorry I can't remember which cartridge.   The Merry Christmas was also cut from glitter paper using the MS Elegant cakes cartridge.  The white strip in the middle I punched using an Fiskars punch and ran red ribbon through it.

This card has a lot of sparkle to it, I used Christmas paper from a DCWV Christmas stack I got a few years ago.
I also finished the inside using several different poems and sayings and adding some of my own touches to personalize it.

Circle Blogiversary Sketch Challenge

This October celebrates one since the Circle Blog was started.  There is always so much inspiration, fun and giveaways on the blog.  So this week we had to follow the following sketch and the prize is An Imagine!

I had fun with this, as I love to follow sketches and I think it came out so pretty.  You had to follow the sketch and use at least 2 different Cricut cuts.

I had cut this adorable teapot a couple weeks ago when I got my Everyday Pop Up cards cartridge.  I just love this cut so I left it on my desk to be used when I found the right project and this was it!  It is cut at 3 inches.  I Cuttlebugged the yellow part with the swirls embossing folder, I did not want the embossing to be so deep, so I ran it through again under the embossing folder to flatten out some of the embossing.   I did the same thing with the yellow flower.  The flower was also cut from the Everyday Pop up cards cartridge.
All the papers were printed and cut using the Imagine and CCR, the white piece was cut but of course not printed.  The background flower paper is printed from the Imagine cartridge Blossom and it was all printed on a mica coated paper which has a slight sparkle to it.  Happy birthday was cut from the MS Elegant cake cartridge, it was printed with the blue but I covered it with blue ink and heat embossed it with sparkle so it would sparkle.  So with all those cuts this card should qualify for the challenge.

Here is a closer look so you can see the difference in the embossing.  I used the swirls folder on the white but did not flatten it out.  I added a bling for the dot on the "i" of birthday.  Lots of other bling on this card.  It is a large card, half sheet of letter size paper.

Christmas Ornament

Well happy World Card Making Day everyone, I hope everyone is having a lot of time to play and make some cards today.  Here is my card I will submit on the Cricut Blog where they are having a giveaway of the Cricut cartridge "Happy Hauntings" and the October issues of the Cricut magazine.  So stop on over for you chance to win and to see some inspiration.  But you better hurry cut off is midnight tonight.

The card is a half sheet sized card ( 5.5 x 8.5), so the ornament is cut rather big about 5 inches.  It was cut from the Christmas Noel cartridge using all 3 layers.  I cut them all from plain white card stock and then sprayed each layer using a different color of Glimmer mist to color them.  The top green layer I covered with Glossy Accents for some added dimension and shine.  Even the striped background paper I printed using my Imagine and the Mr Frosty cartridge.  I printed it on Cryogen White paper which has a light sparkle to it.  The sparkle shows through the printing.  I think I will have to get more of this for printing with my Imagine.

Here in this close up you can see the Glossy Accents a bit better.  The green border/strip was cut using the MS Elegant Cake cartridge, using Cricut Craft Room I welded three of them together to make it the correct size I needed.  Wow Cricut Craft Room will really be an awesome program when it is released.  They are still working out a few minor bugs but I am sure it will be released soon.  I added some red stickles to the border to look like holly berries??  The Merry Christmas is a stamp.

Yellow, Purple & Silver

Hi everyone, for the first time I am entering a card in the Circle Blog (exclusive to Circle members)weekly challenge.
 This week the challenge is to follow this sketch.....................

It looked like it could be a lot of fun and so very versatile. To qualify the project to enter had to be a newly created project, have glitter or bling and at least two different Cricut cuts..  For the glitter/bling part I pulled out my DCWV Lemon Flower stack.  I love the papers n this stack.  Well my card evolved a bit as it went on.  Here is what it first looked liked.

Although pretty, I felt like the circles were a bit to plain.  So I brought in some color!  Here is what I came up with.

Much better don't you think.  Although it looks like the background is matted on the darker color it is not.  The darker color is a very thin frame I cut using the George cartridge by placing one rectangle inside another.  Wanted to make sure I cut my qualifying cuts in, the circles were also cut using George.  I also used my Gypsy to set up the plaid rectangle cut so it would be the correct size I wanted.  The corner I cut with my trimmer just from a scrap of paper that I had.

The butterflies were cut from the Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art cartridge.  They were cut from plain white cardstock that I sprayed with Deep Plum Glimmer Mist spray, then added some silver bling down the center.
The "happy birthday" was a stamp that I heat embossed with silver embossing powder.
I did the inside very very simple for now and will add more when I go to use this card.

Lily of the Valley

As I child I remember my Grandmother growing Lily of the Valley and always loved how delicate they were.  And if memory serves me well I think they grew wild also.   I am so happy with how this card turned out, I just wish you could see it in person as it is much prettier than the picture.  I made it following of the sketches this week on RAQs Challenge on the Cricut message board.

All the cuts are the Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art cartridge, I love the cake cartridges.  The "trellis"  or strip of purple across the back is a border cut that I welded two back to back using my Gypsy.  As always when I am designing or cutting something for the first time I always cut it from plain white cardstock to make sure I like it and  that it is the right size.  I know this may sound like a waste of paper, but they usually get put to good use.  If I don't use them myself I pass them on to my two sister-in-laws that I got started into this addiction.  In this case I took that plain white piece and covered it with  purple pearl embossing powder a couple of times and liked the way it looked so I found paper that would go with it.

Letraset, the makers of Promarkers sent me some samples of a couple products that they carry.  LetraTac, a re-positional Adhesive sheet and Safmat self adhesive Printable film.  Both have so many uses, I did use the LetraTac to glue the purple lattice like cut behind the lilies.  I though with the intricate cut that this would be perfect and it was.  Unlike running it through your Xyron there was no webbing of adhesive, loved this part.  It stuck great but I did add a few drops of random glue because when I had heat embossed the front some of the embossing powder got on the back and we all know that can mess with you adhesive.  So make sure you go to Letraset website and check out their cool products.

There is two Lily of the Valley cuts but they do not match up exactly like a shadow but that is ok, it is off set enough to make the bunch look bigger.  I chalked each set of leaves and each lily and then sprayed it with sealer so the chalk would not come off.
The lilies were cut from pearl white paper and since there are so many of them this is what I did to make sure they got attached to the correct place.  I took my Zig glue pen and put a dab of glue on each area where there was to be a flower, then as I removed the flowers from the mat I stuck them where they belonged.  Then after I was ready I glued them down permanently.  This seemed to work well for me.  I also applied Diamond Glaze to each lily.  The cut had an bow that cut with it but I cut if off and added my own ribbon bow.  I pop dotted the lily bunch and added some pearl strings that I had.

The "thanks a bunch" was computer generated and printed on that same white pearl papers as the lilies.

Happy Birthday Daisies

Anybody ready for spring yet?  I know all of you back east that have been buried in snow this year are ready!  Well maybe this card will at least bring Spring to you for a moment.  I made this card following one of the sketches at RAQ's Challenge on the Cricut message board and also the theme this week is "anything goes" at Penny's Challenges, my first time entering this challenge.  Then one more challenge that you may want to check out that I am entering this in is My Grafico Crafts they have some great images and other goodies there also.

 Once I saw the background paper in my Best of K & Company stack, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  The daisies were cut from MS Elegant Cake Art cartridge and then sprayed them with Glimmer Mist to give them a little sparkle.  For the centers I covered them with Glossy Accents then when it was about 3/4 of the way dry I place tiny pearls on them.  The happy birthday is a stamp from Stampin Up.

I like the way the pearls look sitting on top of the Glossy Accents, but looking at the picture it looks like I should have put one more on :).

Valentine Card for my Hubby.............

I had fun making this card and I think it came out so pretty.  I needed to make a Valentines card anyway so with the help of a few challenges this what I came up with.  The layout is a sketch from RAQs Challenge this week on the Cricut message board.  The challenge this week at My Sheris Crafts was too bling it up!  I added the red pearls and also it is misted with Scarlet Glimmer Mist so it has a very shimmery look to it.  I can never get that to show up well in the picture.   Also over at Cricut Cardz Challenge this week the theme was to use Red, White & Black ONLY, well that is one of my favorite color combinations so I did not have to spend a lot of time picking out my papers LOL, usually a big problem for me.

The background paper is from DCWV Black Currant stack, love the papers in this stack, the black parts of the design are glossy.  The large red heart is actually a dollie that I have had around here for a long time.  If you all know me you know I love to make crumpled flowers, well I thought "why can't I make a crumpled heart" so I did.  I cut the heart 4 times in descending size using Martha Stewart Elegant Cake cartridge out of white paper, then I sprayed it heavily using Scarlet Glimmer Mist and crumpled them into a little ball and then carefully unfolded them and stacked them on top of each other and stuck a red pearl in the center.

I cut some swirls from Serenade cartridge from glossy black paper and placed them behind the heart.  The "All my love..." is a Gina K stamp that I heat embossed with red glitter embossing powder (more bling LOL) and cut out using Spellbinders Label 11, added a couple small pearls on the sides of the label.
