What is that flower made from?

well, let me tell you how I made this flower.  Oh wait let me show it to you first and see if you can guess before I tell you.

I created this card following a sketch on the Cricut message board this week.  Hard to see in this picture but the dark pink and the white are both pearl papers and the shapes I cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge.  The happy birthday and flowers are Dazzles.

OK, did you figure it out?  I am sure some of you did because this was not my idea, I learned it from my favorite place for new ideas and tutorials Splitcoast Stampers.  If you have never been there is is well worth checking it out, just click on the resources button at the top of the page for all the different tutorials.  I get a newsletter (email) from them each week and one week it had this tutorial in it to make flowers from used Dryer Sheets, cool huh, it almost looks like lace?  Click HERE to see for yourself, mine is a bit different as I scrunched the "petals" up to give them a more curly look.  I rimmed the edges with Viva Decor Glitter liner.

A Dazzling Dragonfly

Hi, here is a simple card I made this week.  I did not use my Cricut on this card, all you cut just using my paper trimmer.  I have found if I cut squares with the Cricut there is paper waste in between the cuts.  Sometimes using your Cricut it a bit more accurate and straight but does leave some paper behind.

The papers are from the Best of K & Company stack.  The dragonflies are Dazzle stickers I get each month in my monthly kit.  I love the Dazzles they add such a great touch in the right place, plus it saves time because you don't have to color them.

The happy birthday is also a stick but not a Dazzle.  And I did finish the inside of this card, I figured since I had out all the papers I may as well go ahead and do the inside.

Bright & Glittery Butterfly

I am so excited to share this card with you.   I have had these Double Stick Dazzles, I wasn't exactly sure what they were so one day I got them out and figured out what they were, with the help of the directions.
Here is the sparkly card.

This card was made following a sketch a couple of weeks ago, but just didn't get a chance to post it.   I think it would make a nice get well card or something to cheer someone up. Butterflies always remind me of summer so it would also make a nice birthday card for someone with a summer birthday.
So theses double stick Dazzles are clear and very thin, almost like double stick tape in a shape.

It is kind of hard to see but here is a picture of the package.  There are around 8 medium to large ones in a package and a bunch of small ones.  What I did was peel off the wings of the butterfly (brown part) and stick it to a piece of bright green cardstock.  Then I sprinkle that part with Martha Stewart brown glitter, then the body and colored that part with green glitter and finally the small pink pieces.  It was very easy and the pieces are pretty durable, you have to be careful but they can be handled without them falling apart.  After I got it all glittered I cut it from the green cardstock.

Now that I finally played around with these, I love them and want to see what other shapes they have.
The two flowers on the bottom are buttons that I clipped the back off of and glued down.
Here is a close up of the butterfly after it is on the card.  The swirl is also from the Dazzles.

A Bright & Cheery Birthday

A month or so ago I bought the DCWV Lemon Flower stack.  Oh the papers are so pretty and I had been wanting to make something with so when the sketch challenge was posted on Fairytale Challenge blog I pulled out this stack of paper to make my card.

Here is the sketch that was to be followed, I like this sketch and think I will keep it for future use.

And here is the card I made using this sketch

At first I thought maybe the papers were to busy together but after inking the edges I think it made them stand out a bit more.  All papers are from the Lemon Flower stack with the exception of the scalloped circle.   This I made using my Imagine, I am a new Imagine owner so I am still playing around and learning.  I thought I would try to print on pearlescence paper to see how it turn out, and oh my is came out beautiful the pearl shows through the light yellow pattern print from the Country Carnival cartridge.   This make me even more excited about my Imagine.

Here is a close up of the circle, but you still can't see it too well.  The "happy birthday"
is a peel off sticker and the swirls are Dazzle stickers.  I love the Dazzles they add a nice embellishment to your projects.   They even have a monthly Premiere Dazzles club you can join and every month you get not yet released Dazzles, paper, and a project letter.  The flower is a Martha Stewart stick on.

You Warm My Heart.....................................

Well this is my last week as a Guest Designer at the Crafty Creations challenge, I can't tell you what an honor is was to me to be asked to be a guest designer and be grouped with the awesome talented people on the Design Team.  Thank you so much Melissa for asking me :)

This week our hostess is Jaime over at Inky and Scrappy and the theme is "Heat it Up" we had to use something that reminds you of heat, i.e. coffee, tea, heat emboss, spicy etc...   This is what I came up with

I made this card following the sketch at Tiffany Doodles January sketch challenge, although I did no use one of her fabulous images, I loved the sketch so I went ahead and made it without one.  Jump on over to her blog and check it out you still have time it runs through January 31st.  I hope to get another one done using one of her images.

This card is 5 x 7 and the papers I used are from the DCWV Autumn  Stack.  The coffe cup is a Dazzle sticker.  I put red and brown paper on the back of the sticker to show through the open areas.  The steam (swirl) is also a Dazzle.  You warm my heart is a stamp that I stamped on a cut out from my Cricut then embellished with two heart brads.
