Yesterday was my Grandsons 20th birthday. He is in the Navy and stationed in Connecticut training to be a submariner. If you are a regular reader of this blog you have probably heard this a hundred times by now, sorry I guess I am just a very proud Nana.
I saw this paper from the DCWV Mariposa stack with the Fluer De Les and knew what I wanted to make. I cut the gold Fluer De Les using the Sweethearts cartridge from gold foil card stock, then a glossy black shadow layer.
You can see them a bit better in this photo.
I also put some of this same paper on the inside and stamped a sentiment.
Since my Mom is here for the Winter I also made her a card to send to him. This one is a bit more military or navy themed.
I am very pleased with how this one turned out. The papers are from a K&Company stack that I got on clearance at Michaels that has a lot of patriotic type papers, but in subdued tones. The happy birthday is cut from the MS Birthday Cake cartridge. This is the first time I used this cut and I love the wavy banner background. Picking up the letters off the mat and getting placed correctly on the ribbon banner could be a difficult thing, but what I did was use sticky drywall mesh tape and picked them all up together then glued them right onto the ribbon banner perfectly spaced, waa laa makes it so much easier.
The anchor I cut out of glossy silver paper using the Stand & Salute cartridge. Then I covered it with Crackle Accents, and feed a chain like ribbon that I had through the top whole and wound it around. Looks pretty cool huh?
The inside I just stamped with a Gina K design stamp and added a sticker.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today, hope you all have a wonderful day.

A Lifetime of Happiness
I am going to a bridal shower on Saturday and here is the card I made for the bride. Her wedding colors are blue & silver so those are the colors I used. The center frame I created using a square from George and welded swirls from Sweethearts to it. I then cut out an additional set of the swirls from silver and glued them onto the base cut.
I added some small blue pearls to the hearts. The center sentiment is Verses stamps (I believe). On the blue background paper I stamped randomly with a Gina K umbrella stamp from the Enjoy the Sunshine set using my Versamark pad and embossed it using clear embossing powder. It is very faint but if you look close you can see it. The center strip I made using a Martha Stewart punch.
Just carried the same theme onto the inside, then sentiment is computer generated.
Thanks for stopping by, I would love to hear your comments.

A Very Merry Christmas to all................................
...................and a Happy New Year. I hope everyone is celebrating and having a wonderful time with family & friends. Lots of you food and good cheer to go around and reminiscing about Christmas' past. Sounds like the best way to spend Christmas huh?
Well I will be anxious after Christmas to read about all the wonderful things everyone got and stories to tell and of course the creations by the vast talent that is out there.
Well I just started my blog back in very late July, by the urging of a few of my message board friends and I can not thank them enough. I so enjoy looking at everyone's blogs and learning so many new things and being inspired. The New Year should bring us all more great wonder and blessing.
I just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Holidays and a fabulous New Year. I won't be around much for the next week as we leave tomorrow morning for Las Vegas, we are driving and am very excited about going over the new Hoover Dam Bridge. AWESOME! Also the main reason we are going is to celebrate our 25th anniversary which is on December 27th. I am married to the most wonderful and understanding man! So in a fit of hurry with all the Christmas stuff going on I made him this card.
It is such a beautiful card, only to be ruined by glue marks on the vellum. I really wish there was a way to glue vellum as I love using it. The more I tried to fix it the more I messed it up, so remember what I said about that understanding man (LOL) I sure hope he understands about the glue :)! The glassed are from Sweethearts cartridge, that I cut from acetate and shadowed with a cream colored vellum, then I put Crackle Accents for the champagne. Thanks for stopping by and have a New Year filled with good health and many many blessings.
