Dazzles & Teal

Hello, I am back again to share a card with you that I made.
This week the throwdown at Operation Write Home is a color challenge to use teal or turquoise as your primary color on your card.    I am sure you have heard of OWH, they are a fabulous organization that does wonderful things for our troops that are deployed.  If you have not heard of them please check out there blog HERE.
This card is so pretty in person.  The bees & flowers are Dazzle stickers that are very sparkly.  I have so many of them but always forget to use them.  I triple matted the 3 labels and the strip behind them.  I think it really sets them off.
I will stamp a sentiment on it when I decide how to use it.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peak at me blog.

Christmas Birthday - Two cards in one

Hi, at a time of year when most of us are thinking about making our Christmas cards I also have to think about making a Christmas Birthday card and I amsure some of you do also.  There are so many people that have a birthday on Christmas day or very near, for instance my son's birthday is the 22nd and he will be 41 this year, he is old not me LOL.
I am hosting the challenge this week at Crafty Creations so I have set the challenge to make that Christmas birthday card.
Also I had a friend sometime ago ask me to make a birthday card for his uncle that will turn 91 on Christmas Day, this is what helped me pick my challenge.  The card I made is for him not my son, but I hoping I will get ideas and inspiration for my son's card from everyone that joins in the challenge, so head on over to Crafty Creations and jump in, there is a prize to be won.

This card will be hard to show in just one picture so there will be several.  Here is the front of the card.
The paper has like a leather suede feel to it and came in one of my Dazzles monthly kit I get.  The clock and sentiment is also from that kit and are Dazzzle stickers.  I stuck the clock Dazzle sticker on a piece of that suede paper and then cut out around it.  I colored in some areas with my StazOn Metallic ink pad using a paint brush to color just some small areas.  I also added a brad to the center of the clock face to hold the arms.  Not sure anyone will notice but I put the hands at "9" and "1" for 91 years old. The paper behind the clock is like old catalog paper that I crinkled up and then inked some of the wrinkled places, was trying to go for a vintage look.
Here is the inside of the card
The sentiment was computer generated, then cut out using one of my Nesties.  Now onto the Christmas part of the card.
The Christmas tree was cut from the Christmas Noel cartridge and shadowed with the red paper.  The Christmas papers are from a K & Company Christmas stack that I got last year.  Again the sentiment is computer generated.  Here is a front view of the card.
I stuck the two cards together back of the birthday card to the front of the Christmas card.  Here is another view.
I hope they like this card, I tried to make it very special since it such a big milestone.

Thank you so much for stopping by, please leave a comment I just love to hear what others think of my creations.  And don't forget to stop by Crafty Creations and join in this weeks challenge to make  Christmas Birthday card.

Thank you "sew" much

This is my second week being on the Design Team at Crafty Creations Challenges.  Our host/sponsor this week is Jamie and her theme is "You have me in stitches", either using stitching on the card or a funny saying.  Make sure head on over to CCC and join us and find out what our sponsor has to offer.

This card was fun for me to make and rather quick for me also, less than a day, but you will see why later.

Now for most people when they say fast card it would be an hour or so, well one day is fast for me even with all the help I got on this one using Dazzle Stickers , I still had to pick out my papers and toy around with the design and which stickers I would use.  Plus I think I get distracted a lot (my own fault)LOL.
If you are not familiar with the Dazzle stickers check them out they come in all different kinds of things.  As delicate as they look they are very sturdy, in fact I had put the sewing machine on there twice and had to remove and reposition since it was crooked, but once you get the correct placement I just run them over with my brayer and they are stuck down!  Isn't the ruler part the coolest, it is a Dazzle also.
The background is DCWV paper from the Crafty Stack that has button and spools of thread on it.  The yellow frames piece on the upper left side I embossed using the Houndstooth folder in my Cuttlebug, then I  inked it slightly, you can't really see it.  The cream colored piece behind the sewing machine I stamped a pair of scissors all over it using my VersaMark stamp pad, again hardly visible.  Then I cut a circle and a scalloped shadow using my Cricut and stamped the saying on it, added a heart button and that finished it off.

I also made this card following the sketch this week at Mojo Monday #183, this is a fund challenge that I like to participate in whenever I can.

Thanks so much for stopping by and as always if there are any questions I would be happy to answer them.  Or you can leave me a comment, I love them!

Gold Dazzle Sticker on Alcohol Ink Paper

I am so thrilled with how the colors on this paper turned out.  Then over at RAQ's Challenge on the Cricut message board there was the perfect sketch to use this paper.
The bottom piece of paper (a half sheet) I made by adding some Ranger Alcohol Inks to glossy paper by just randomly placing drops of color, I think I used 4 colors on this one, then added some Ranger Blending Solution and just tipping the paper around and letting the colors run together.  This is a technique I learned in my Technique Junkie Newsletter.   I just recently subscribed to this and I love it.  This was not part of the technique in the newsletter, but I took and added a few drops of pearl alcohol ink, more blending solution then turned the paper over onto my craft mat and twirled it around to get that marbled look.
I cut a kind of scalloped edge circle from A Child's Year at about 2 inches and then place a gold flower Dazzle Sticker on the scalloped circle of the alcohol ink paper that I cut out.  Then on my Gypsy I made a slightly larger circle out of a deep plum colored paper and mounted the flower on top of it.  This is the first time I used Dazzle Stickers and I love them.  Then with my i-Rock I added small green jewels to the flower.  The happy birthday is a stamp on a Spellbinder Nestabilities label.  Here is a close up of the flower, colors aren't that great close up.

And I have been trying to work on getting the insides of my cards done, so here it is.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and let me know what you thin of this card.  I just love to read your comments and appreciate them a lot.
