Outdoorsy Birthday

Hello everyone, well my younger brother's birthday is coming up so I made him this card.  I had bought this Outdoor Paper stack a while back to use to start making more male cards to build up my stash.  It has some really great papers in it and all kinds of other goodies, tags, embellishments, words, letters etc.
The background papers and the "log" are from the Outdoor paper stack, oh also the center tag where the happy birthday is stamped and heat embossed.
The diamond shapes I made from the Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge using Cricut Craft Room to extend it out.  The original shape was a square but using one of the little design handles I was able to pull out the shape and turn it to make it into a diamond shape.  First time I used this design handle and I really liked it and think it will come in handy designing.  The diamonds were cut from plain white cardstock, then sprayed with Walnut Inks, they are really cool and add a kind of antique texture to the paper.  I only have a 4 color pack and really need to get more colors.  :).
The pine cone I cut from the camp Out cartridge and covered it with Crackle Accents.
The inside I added another of the diamond shapes and then stamped the sentiment.  One of my New Years resolutions is to finish the inside of cards, now this one I had to finish because I will be sending it out to my brother, but hope my resolutions holds up otherwise LOL

Plaid Male Birthday Card

I don't know about you but male cards are sometimes hard to make.  It seems like I keep trying to add flowers or bows to cards.
Here is a male card I made for Enfys at Going Buggy week long party she has going on.
This day you had to create something with a bug on it, luckily she let us use a dragonfly as a bug.  The cute little dragonfly is from the Camp Out cartridge and the rope frame is from Old West.  Added some matching plaid paper and doodled with my white gel pen to the Happy Birthday.  Simple, but perfect for a guy

Rope Frame Male Card

Sometimes it is difficult to make male cards, so this week the Ad Color Challenge on the Cricut message board was to use rust, white and chocolate.  The perfect combination for a guy card.  I used a sketch from RAQ Card challenge for the design.  The rope frame is cut from Old West at about 2 1/2 inches and then inked the "rope" cuts, inking adds so much texture or realism to cuts.  Then using my Gypsy I added the dragonfly from Camp Out and placed it in the frame so I knew what size I wanted to cut it to fill the frame.  It ended up being cut at 2 inches.  I added some dots using a brown colored glitter pen he is also mounted with pop dots.  The plaid paper was from an outdoor pack of paper that I had.  Added the Happy Birthday cut from Stamping with a chocolate shadow.  I placed a piece of brown jute and kind of tied a loop knot.  I wanted to keep it male so I stayed away from a bow.  Hope you enjoy this card.
