Tomorrow I am going to a baby shower with my daughter for of her old high school friends. So I made this card for her loosely following one of the sketches this week at RAQ's Challenge on the Cricut message board. It was fun to make and probably the first baby card I have made in years, it still took me about two days. I know, you are probably thinking "boy she sure is slow" well you are right, I a the slowest card maker this side of the Mississippi, LOL. I just keep changing things till I have it right. But in the end I think it was worth it.
I got to use my sew mini again (more driving therapy) and I am beginning to really like it. It is hard to see but I sewed with yellow thread along the edge of the border dark pink and the lighter pink(a close up picture to follow). The baby blocks are from New Arrival that I had to adjust in Design Studio. The background block comes up the same size so just the color shows through the letters, well I wanted there to be a boarder around the edges so I tweaked the size so I would have that darker boarder. "Welcome little one" if a cut from Simply Charmed and the umbrella and buggy and all the other little guys are stickers. The background plaid paper is from K & Company "Best of Brenda Walton" stack and there are some very very pretty papers in this pack. If you are looking for a nice paper pack check this one out. It has 150 sheets with a wide range of designed and colors.
Here is a close up of that stitching, getting pretty good huh? for having crazy legs.
I kind of went all out on this one and did the inside, I keep telling myself that I need to do the insides of my cards when I make them and I just never seem to do it. I usually do the inside once I know who I am going to use it for (ha ha that is my excuse for not doing them) but this one I knew so I had to complete it. The edge inside is a Martha Stewart punch then I sewed the darker prink strip onto it. I also set up a template in Word to print the sentiment right on the inside of the card. So here is the inside, and you can also see the envelope lining that I did.
And then here is the front of the envelope
One of the reasons it takes me so long to make a card it that I cut out things then I don't like how it looks. The "It's a Girl" was cut from New Arrival with the intent to put it on the front of the card but I did not like the way it looked there so I put it on the front of the envelope and I think that was perfect. Sure hope you like my baby card, I would love to hear what you have to say. And thanks for visiting my blog.
